Dear Editor,
There are a few small towns throughout America that can transport one to earlier times. These towns have preserved many of their original buildings while keeping franchise establishments and modern architecture out of their historic districts. Greensburg is one of those towns. The trouble is there is not much to do. You might look around, read the history, discover Lucy Tucker’s and then move on.
Sam and Mimi Moore are in the process of giving this town a gift – the restoration of the old hotel. The hotel will have rooms furnished and decorated as in times past and a gourmet restaurant. This hotel could be the magnet to attract people from all over the state. More shops, eateries, and galleries would follow. People would stay here to canoe the river and visit the lake. No longer would locals have to drive to Louisville or Nashville for a unique dining experience.
Fine restaurants such as envisioned for the Green River Hotel would not be possible without an adequate wine cellar. For most, fine cuisine and fine wine go hand in hand. Furthermore, upscale restaurants must sell alcoholic beverages to help defray the cost of preparing fine food. Those in South Greensburg precinct PLEASE VOTE YES for the sale by the drink in the Green River Hotel.
Sincerely,
James and Patricia Sperry
Greensburg, Ky.
